BANGKOK: Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa has called on the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) to maintain support for victims of the tragic educational tour bus accident in Uthai Thani Province. The incident, which resulted in 23 fatalities, including 20 children and three teachers, has prompted the establishment of a rescue point and ongoing relief efforts by the MSDHS and associated agencies.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut, who serves as the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, has received comprehensive reports from the Center for Accelerated Public Welfare Management (CWMS). The MSDHS team, with units spanning several provinces, has actively been involved in providing assistance at Wat Khao Phraya Sangkharam School in Uthai Thani. The tragic accident affected 25 households, with three children injured.
The MSD team in Uthai Thani has conducted a series of initiatives to support the affected families. This includes organizing meetings to plan field visits, collabo
rating with legal and health offices to survey and encourage families, and monitoring budget management for relief efforts. The involvement of various governmental and local entities underscores a coordinated approach to address both immediate and long-term needs of the victims.
Mr. Varawut outlined a structured plan for ongoing relief operations, involving regular visits and activities coordinated by the CM team scheduled through early 2025. The visits aim to provide consistent support and assess the progress of relief efforts. Additionally, the Senate Budget Management Monitoring Committee plans to oversee the prosecution of those responsible for the accident, ensuring accountability and sustained assistance.
