Yala: Heavy rain in Yala Province for the second consecutive day has severely impacted five districts, affecting 107,741 residents. The governor has ordered an urgent evacuation as water surrounds the city.
According to Thai News Agency, the flood situation in Yala Province on November 28, 2024, has arisen due to continuous heavy to very heavy rainfall since November 26-27, 2024. The accumulated rainfall over these two days reached 579.8 millimeters, leading to flash floods, forest runoff, flooding, and mudslides across many areas of the province.
As of this morning, July 28, 2024, heavy rain continues unabated. All 10 sub-districts in the outer areas of Yala City are flooded, surrounding the city within Yala Municipality. The Flood, Storm, and Landslide Command Center of Yala Province reported that the heavy rain affected five districts, namely Mueang Yala, Bannang Sata, Yaha, Raman, and Kabang. The floods have impacted 45 sub-districts, 26,565 villages, 27 communities, 27,425 households, and 107,741 peopl
e. Infrastructure damage includes 63 households, 275 people, 95 roads, 10 bridges, and 6 electric poles.
Aerial views from Tambon Na Tham in Mueang District show houses in Villages 1 to 4 almost entirely affected, with water levels nearing two meters. Residents have been forced to evacuate their belongings to upper floors, and urgent assistance from officials has been requested. The economic and commercial area on Sri Bamrung Road, known as Yala’s middle road, is also experiencing rising water levels. Authorities have ordered all units to integrate efforts to address the flood crisis, focusing on evacuating vulnerable groups to safe shelters and providing food and shelter.
