A truck carrying migrant workers was arrogant, driving through a checkpoint before being cornered. 10 Chinese people who had illegally entered the country were arrested and 100 mobile phones, laptops, and iPads were found.
Police chased a car belonging to a Chinese labor smuggling gang of about ten people on the route from Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province to Loeng Nok Tha District, Yasothon Province at 10:00 p.m. on September 4. The car broke through a checkpoint in front of Pa Rai Police Station. The car crashed into a police barrier, causing damage, and sped away at high speed. The arresting police followed and intercepted the car on the road between Ban Na Pong and Ban Pong Cham.
An investigation found the driver, named Mr. Namphon, trying to run away from the vehicle, so they apprehended him. A search of him found a GLOCK 19 handgun and 2 bullets hidden in a waist bag. The passenger, identified as Mr. Natthaphon, was caught while he was running away. A search of the pickup truck found 10 Chinese for
eign men sitting crowded in the back of the vehicle, along with evidence including mobile phones, notebooks, and iPads, totaling 100 devices.
Officers took all Chinese people to Pa Rai Police Station, Pa Rai Subdistrict, Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province, and questioned the suspects throughout the day. All of the Chinese suspects who escaped could not speak Thai, so they had to have a Chinese interpreter to help translate.
Initial information was that there were two Thais who brought all the Chinese people in from a neighboring country. They paid the broker 30,000 baht per person. The destination was Pattaya City, Chon Buri Province. They were transported using a pickup truck with a roof over which 10 people and luggage were stuffed in the back. When they encountered a checkpoint at Pa Rai Police Station, they broke through the checkpoint and were cornered only 3 kilometers away from the checkpoint.
Officers charged Mr. Nampol and Mr. Nattapol, two Thais, with helping, hiding, or in any way helping illeg
al aliens to evade arrest, and charged all 10 foreign suspects with ‘being illegal aliens’, along with additional charges against Mr. Nampol for possessing firearms and ammunition without permission, for a total of 12 suspects.
