17-year-old escapes from police while being taken to court, jumps into Saen Saep Canal and drowns

A 17-year-old suspect shook off officers and fled while being taken to the Juvenile Court, jumping into the Saen Saep Canal and drowning.

Min Buri Police Station investigators were notified that a 17-year-old male suspect had escaped custody while being transported to the Min Buri Juvenile Court for an arrest investigation. The incident occurred at 1:50 p.m. yesterday (October 4). After the incident, the Min Buri Police Station Superintendent ordered an investigation and went to the scene. It was learned that the Min Buri Police Station investigators had taken the 17-year-old male suspect, who had been arrested for nighttime theft, to the Min Buri Juvenile Court for an arrest investigation. However, while being detained in front of the Min Buri Criminal Court, the suspect managed to shake off the restraint. Since he was a juvenile, the officers did not use restraints and ran away from the front of the Min Buri Criminal Court to the Saeb Saeb Canal behind Min Buri School. During that time, the police and sec
urity guards of the Min Buri Criminal Court chased him and called the patrol police and the investigation team to help track him down. However, during that time, the suspect jumped into the Saen Saeb Canal. The court security guards jumped into the water after him. Before the suspect swam to the other side of the Saen Saeb Canal, he suddenly drowned and disappeared.

The police therefore coordinated with the Rom Sai Foundation to act as divers to help search for the suspect, but the latest news is that the body was found in the area. Initially, the police coordinated with the forensic doctor to perform an autopsy and contact the relatives to collect the body for religious ceremonies.
