Samut Prakan: Somsak Thepsuthin, the Minister of Public Health and Special President of the Medical Council, has declined to comment on his recent decision to veto a Medical Council resolution, stating that he will provide a detailed explanation tomorrow (May 30).

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Somsak was approached by the media during his mission in Samut Prakan Province today (May 29) regarding a letter he sent to the Medical Council. The letter addressed his opinion on the Council’s resolution to penalize three doctors involved in the treatment and subsequent transfer of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to the Police General Hospital, 14th floor. Despite repeated inquiries, Mr. Somsak refrained from making any statements, indicating that he would address the media collectively at a later time.

Mr. Somsak mentioned that he had already submitted his response on the evening of May 28, following guidelines outlined in Article 25 of the Medical Profession Act B.E. 2525. He remained tight-lipped about the specifics of his response, requesting that the Medical Council release the document before he comments further. It’s anticipated that Mr. Somsak will provide further clarification to the media on May 30.
