2,500 university students involved in stunting reduction: ministry

Jakarta (ANTARA) – At least 2,500 university students have gotten involved in efforts to accelerate stunting reduction through the Kedaireka Matching Fund program, according to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.cting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Diktiristek)Nizam said that his side has continued to support the acceleration of stunting prevalence reduction through various programs, including the Kedaireka Matching Fund program.
“The Diktiristek Directorate General always supports various efforts to accelerate stunting prevalence reduction,” he added here on Wednesday.
Besides the Kedireka Matching Fund program, the directorate general is also implementing the Stunting Thematic Community Service (KKN) program.
He said that the Stunting Thematic KKN program has been joined by more than 10 thousand students from various universities in the country.
The directorate general has received an award from the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) for its efforts to contribute to stunting reduction.
The award is a form of BKKBN’s appreciation for the Diktiristek Directorate General’s support for the implementation of the Family Development, Population, and Family Planning (Bangga Kencana) and stunting reduction acceleration programs.
Nizam said that the award has come as a motivation for the staff of the Diktiristek Directorate General to remain committed to and support stunting reduction through the relevant programs.
He expressed the hope that the cooperation and collaboration between BKKBN and its partners will expedite stunting prevalence reduction.
Indonesia’s stunting prevalence in 2022 declined by 2.8 percentage points to 21.6 percent from 24.4 percent in 2021, according to the 2022 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) of a sample of 334,848 babies and under-five children.
The Indonesian government is aiming to reduce stunting prevalence to 14 percent by 2024, as per Presidential Decree Number 72 of 2021 concerning stunting reduction acceleration.
