4th Army Orders Investigation into Illegal Sale of Gun Parts at Vajiravudh Camp

Nakhon Si Thammarat: The 4th Army has initiated a swift investigation following the discovery of illegal sales of firearm parts and ammunition within the PX area of Vajiravudh Camp.

According to Thai News Agency, recent reports indicate that illegal sales were taking place via private transport in the welfare store of the 41st Army Area at Vajiravudh Camp, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Colonel Watcharakon Onngen, spokesperson for the 4th Army Region, disclosed that investigations revealed the welfare shop at Vajiravudh Camp was being exploited for illegal business under the guise of “GUN SMART and TACTICAL SHOP.” Personnel names from the camp were reportedly used to sign lease agreements to operate a business selling firearm accessories, military equipment, and electronic goods. The shop was also running a private parcel delivery service in the same area. Mr. Wisut Hemman, aged 41, admitted ownership of the shop, prompting officers to search and expand investigations to other related locations.

The search uncovered 35 firearms, over 16,000 rounds of ammunition, and more than 100 related items, which were being traded online and transported privately. There has been no evidence of a connection to incidents in the three southern border provinces, but the investigation is ongoing with police involvement.

The Commander of the 4th Army has called for a comprehensive review of all welfare shop tenants under the 4th Army to prevent future misuse of military camp areas for illegal activities. The Fourth Army Region emphasizes that any personnel found involved will face strict disciplinary actions and legal proceedings, underscoring their commitment to addressing illegal acts within military units.
