6.9-Magnitude Earthquake Struck Off Indonesia’s Maluku Province

Jakarta: A 6.9-magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of Indonesia’s Maluku Province at 49 p.m. local time today, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

According to Nam News Network, the epicenter was located approximately 170 km southwest of Southeast Maluku, at a depth of 108 km. Indonesia is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, which makes it susceptible to frequent seismic activities.
