69th Thailand Open Track and Field Championships Concludes with Successful Closing Ceremony

Pathum Thani: The 69th Thailand and International Athletics Championships 2025 has concluded, marking the end of a significant event that highlighted the dedication and sportsmanship of Thai athletes. The closing ceremony took place at the National Athletics Center, hosted on 26 June 2025 by the Athletics Association of Thailand in Pathum Thani Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the event was presided over by Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for Sports Excellence and Sports Science. The ceremony was attended by several notable figures including Col. Premin Ratcharitborirak, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Sports Promotion Project for the Development of Thailand under Royal Patronage, Pol. Maj. Gen. Rungroj Thakoorpunyasiri, Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Competition, Mr. Khomsan Yanawatana, Deputy Governor of Pathum Thani Province, and Mr. Naphat Liamsongwan, Advisor to the Mayor of Rangsit Municipality.

Mr. Preecha Lalun remarked on the
dedication and sportsmanship demonstrated by over 2,800 athletes from Thailand and abroad, emphasizing the event’s success in advancing the royal initiative to develop sports excellence. He noted the invaluable participation from various sectors that contributed to the event’s completion, signifying progress in nurturing the physical and mental well-being of the nation’s youth.

Pol. Lt. Col. Rungroj highlighted the smooth and successful execution of the competition over the past six days. The event saw participation from 170 athletes across 11 countries and 202 teams from clubs and schools nationwide, amounting to a total of 2,600 participants. The championship served as a platform for showcasing Thai athletic potential and fostering a productive exchange of experiences with international competitors.

The closing ceremony featured a procession of national flags from all 12 participating countries, followed by the athletes’ parade. A significant moment of the event was the presentation of the 69th Royal Trop
hy from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, alongside souvenirs for representatives from each country. The ceremony concluded with the collective singing of three songs: Auld Lang Syne, Samakkhi Chumnum, and Kham Sanya.
