A 44-year-old woman was riding a motorcycle to her husband’s house when a large tree on the side of the road suddenly fell on her, killing her instantly.
The incident occurred on the Ban Tung-Ban Rai road, Village No. 4, Tambon Chae Son, Amphoe Mueang Pan, Lampang Province. The deceased was Mrs. Banyen Suksabai, 44 years old, a villager from Ban Mai Phatthana Village, Tambon Chae Son. She died while sitting astride a motorcycle. Rescue workers and villagers rushed to bring a chainsaw to cut off the branches in order to remove the body of the deceased. The mother-in-law of the deceased said that her daughter-in-law lived in Ban Mai Phatthana Village. Before the incident, she thought that she rode a motorcycle to her house. Before hearing the news, she heard villagers say that someone had been crushed by a tree, so she rushed out to see what was happening and found out that it was her daughter-in-law. She admitted that she was shocked and very saddened.
The cause, according to the Chae Son Police Station, is
believed to be due to continuous rain for several days, which caused the soil to become soaked and hold water, causing the shallow-rooted tree to lean and fall, uprooting the entire tree, resulting in the tragic accident.
Last night, it rained continuously in Lampang Province after several days of continuous rain, extending until the morning of September 22, 2024, causing water from the mountain top to flow down to Huai Mae Tan, Tambon Pong Saen Thong, Hang Chat District, overflowing on both sides of the river, extending to Ban Chut, Tambon Lampang Luang, Amphoe Ko Kha, which is a recurring flooding point. Officials from many agencies rushed to bring sandbags to block low areas and brought backhoes to scoop up debris blocking the waterway, while officials from the Provincial Electricity Authority brought a cherry picker to cut communication cables that were obstructing the flow. Similarly, on the land at the foot of the hill in Tambon Ban Dong, Amphoe Mae Mo, officials brought tractors, backhoes, and machine
ry to help open the entrance to the village from Ban Champui to Ban Mae San after heavy rain caused soil from the mountain top to flow down and block the entrance and exit of the village. In the Lampang Municipality area, the water level in the Wang River rose and flooded the low areas.
