Academics point out that people don’t support “Chan” but still support Pheu Thai.

Academics see the reason why “Chan” lost so badly because of his own problems: he was elected but still couldn’t work and lacked support from Pheu Thai. They point out that people don’t want “Chan” but still support Pheu Thai.

Mr. Sukhum Nuansakul, former president of Ramkhamhaeng University and political science scholar, analyzed the results of the new election for the mayor of Pathum Thani Province, in which Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Toopkrachang, candidate number 3, won over Mr. Chan Phuangphet, candidate number 1 from the Pheu Thai Party, by more than 60,000 votes. He said that the main factor that caused Mr. Chan to lose was his own popularity. The public was not confident that if elected, he would be able to work for the public because he still had a case with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Meanwhile, the Pheu Thai Party was not careful and did not clearly support or devote itself to Mr. Chan like in the first round of the election. In addition, today, Mr. Chan’s popularity has dropped significantly because there have been only bad things happening about him. Therefore, when Mr. Chan’s score dropped, the party did not increase and still won. In this case, it is not related to the Pheu Thai Party’s popularity dr
opping, but rather the result of support for Chan. This does not mean that those who do not vote for Mr. Chan will not support the Pheu Thai Party. But still support Pheu Thai but not Mr. Chan anymore.

Therefore, it is confirmed that the election of the provincial administrative organization president this time is not considered a measure of the influence of Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former prime minister and Pheu Thai Party with Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit.

“The fact that Pheu Thai Party doesn’t support him is also a factor. Also, Chan’s popularity has weakened because if he is elected, it is not known whether he will be elected or not. I think that is a big factor. Pheu Thai is careful not to get caught in the trap and if he is elected, it would be a waste of time and effort. Many people see it this way. I think that he lost before the election,” said Mr. Sukhum.

As for the reason why there were few people exercising their rights, what was the reason? Mr. Sukhum said that it was because the people felt that they were choosing repeatedly, and they still didn’t get people to come to work, so they were too lazy to go out and vote. In addition, it was raining, but that was considered a later factor. As for the case where there was a misjudgment that Mr. Chan would be elected this time, Mr. Sukhum said that at first he thought that Mr. Chan would be elected because he seemed more prepared. But in the end, from both of them not being ready, it turned out that Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit was more prepared.
