Accelerate the opening of the route to Ban Mae Kopi, Khun Yuam District after the flash floods severely inundated

The North is inundated with flash floods inundating the border market in Mae Sai District. Meanwhile, in Mae Hong Son Province, officials are rushing to open a road to Ban Mae Kopi, Khun Yuam District, after a landslide covered the road and severely damaged the bridge.

The flash flood and mudslide situation has blocked the road to Ban Mae Kopi, Mae Yuam Noi Subdistrict, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province. Recently, officials have mobilized heavy machinery to urgently open the road to Ban Mae Kopi, helping villagers to be able to use the road to enter the village as usual. It is expected that it may take another 2 days before the road to the village can be opened.

In addition, some officials are rushing to repair the bridge connecting Village No. 2 to Village No. 8, Mae Yuam Noi Subdistrict, which had landslides covering the road in several places, making it impossible for villagers to travel for more than 30 kilometers.

As for assistance, the Khun Yuam District Chief, along with the 36th Ranger Fo
rce and relevant agencies, traveled to the Mae Kopi village area, a distance of approximately 10 kilometers, to deliver basic consumer goods and common household medicines to the villagers, as well as to talk to them about their needs and provide them with encouragement.

The situation in Mae Kopi village has returned to normal, but there is still damage to houses that were swept away by the flash flood, with debris and wood piled up over a wide area. Villagers are still afraid of another round of heavy rain, and have moved to stay at Mae Kopi School or at the homes of relatives. Officials have rushed to clear a route to help the villagers.

The latest is that the Mae Hong Son governor visited Ban Muang Pon, Khun Yuam District, to inspect the repair of the Pon River bridge after the river water eroded the bridge neck and caused it to collapse, making it unusable.

For Mae Hong Son Province, there are flood-affected areas in 4 districts: Mueang District, Pang Mapha District, Mae La Noi District, and Khun Yuam
District. Khun Yuam District is the hardest hit. Initially, the province coordinated with the 36th Ranger Force Task Force to dispatch personnel and disaster relief units, together with the Khun Yuam District Administration, to survey and provide assistance to the people of Ban Mae Kopi, Mae Yuam Noi Subdistrict, using the Khun Yuam District-Ban Pang Ung, Mae Suek Subdistrict, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province-Ban Hua Mae Laka, Mae Yuam Noi Subdistrict, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province route instead of the original route that was blocked by landslides and mudslides. However, it is not yet complete and Ban Mae Kopi cannot be reached.

The Sai River flooded Sai Lom Joy Market for the 3rd time

in Chiang Rai Province. Water from the Sai River has flooded the border communities in Mae Sai District, especially Sai Lom Joy Market, a famous border economic trade area of ??the province. Water from under the bridge flooded the entrance and spilled onto the road inside the market along the way. As a resu
lt, vendors had to move their goods to higher ground. Most were able to move them in time because they had experienced continuous flooding many times in the past. This is the 3rd time this year.

While the administrative officers and related agencies mobilized to place sandbags at important points, the border checkpoint and Phahonyothin Road were mostly free from flooding. The area of ??Tachileik District, Myanmar, which is adjacent to the border, was more affected, especially the Tha Lo Market because it is in a low-lying area, where water from the bridge can easily overflow.
