Added mobile network warning system, divided into 5 levels


“Prasert” reveals that warnings will be urgently issued to the public via all mobile networks in response to flood, storm, and mudslide situations. The Public Relations Department will be used to provide additional warnings via all channels. The Cell Broadcast warning system will begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Mr. Prasert Chantarawongthong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, revealed that in order to prepare for the heavy rain and unexpected events, the sending of messages has assigned the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to send warning messages. However, the information that will be sent will be an integrated work with all units to cooperate and send to the DDPM.

While the Ministry of Digital Affairs has invited mobile phone network providers to help increase channels to warn the public. In case of urgent matters, they can send messages to mobile phones. The mobile phone network providers have cooperated well with the government and have already
issued warnings. In addition, the Public Relations Department has been asked to use both radio and television channels to warn the public again. Because there are still storms continuously hitting Thailand, it is considered a preparation to warn the public about floods, storms, and mudslides. It has been confirmed that if a severe event occurs, a warning will be issued immediately. The warning is divided into 5 levels. It is a warning to be aware and not to let the public panic too much. As for the highest level of warning or level 5, people are asked to evacuate and move their belongings to higher ground. However, the warning via the Cell Broadcast system will be completed in the first quarter of 2025. There is no need to give out a number. It can be sent to everyone’s phone.
