Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati urged all countries to strengthen the global health architecture through Indonesia’s G20 Presidency to build a world that is more resistant to the COVID-19 pandemic or upheaval in future.
“The theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’ under Indonesia’s G20 Presidency underscores the significance of global cooperation to deal with the current pandemic and prepare (ourselves) for the future,” the minister stated during the G20 Agenda event here on Thursday.
Indrawati remarked that Indonesia’s G20 Presidency that comes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis makes health as one of the priorities to be discussed at this international forum.
Indonesia’s G20 presidency will review and evaluate ways that prove capable of strengthening health systems at the national, regional and global levels to make the world more prepared for and resistant to all threats of public health, she affirmed.
In addition, Indonesia’s G20 Presidency will transform financing modality and identify a roadmap that promises the greatest added value for both contributors and beneficiaries, he remarked.
“Two areas of key focus of our collective efforts aim to strengthen the global health architecture,” she added.
G20 must stay at the forefront in this process since strengthening the global health architecture will surely face several challenges and require strong commitment and greater investment than before, she pointed out
The minister sees urgency in strengthening the global health architecture now that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected several sides, socially and financially, in the past couple of years, she noted.
“Strengthening the global health architecture during Indonesia’s (G20) Presidency is not only important for the local (community) but also necessary for all of us,” she stated.
