Another Member of the ‘Japanese Tiger’ Gang Arrested for Robbery

Bangkok: Metropolitan Police detectives have arrested another member of the ‘Japanese Tiger’ gang, implicated in the theft of 3.4 million baht. During the arrest, the suspect attempted to flee by climbing onto a roof but fell, sustaining injuries. Authorities are searching for four other members who remain at large.

According to Thai News Agency, the Metropolitan Police Bureau apprehended Mr. Nontawat, also known as Song, at his residence in Nonthaburi. He was involved with the gang led by Mr. Worawat, or “Suea Pun,” a well-known figure on social media, in a robbery that took place in a shopping mall parking lot in the Lat Phrao area. After his fall, Mr. Song was taken to Phra Nang Klao Hospital and later brought to Phaholyothin Police Station for questioning. High-ranking commanders of the Metropolitan Police Bureau are reportedly planning to question him directly.

In this case, there are seven suspects, with two others arrested previously on July 1st. They include Mr. Cherpatch, or Nao, who allegedly acted as an agent for cryptocurrency transactions on Facebook, and Ms. Nana, who claimed Mr. Nao invited her to participate in the crime. The recent arrest of Mr. Song leaves four suspects still at large: Mr. Worawat, the gang leader; Mr. Ball, 35; Mr. Rungnirun, or Bo, 32; and Mr. Ananchai, or Ice, 26. All are wanted for robbery with weapons at night, using a vehicle in the commission of the crime.

Nana’s father has stated that his daughter insists she was deceived into participating in the crime. Meanwhile, Mr. Cherpatch and Ms. Nana remain detained at Phaholyothin Police Station, appearing depressed and stressed without making special requests. Nana’s father, who visited her, disclosed that he was unaware of her involvement, believing she was merely engaged in digital currency transactions. He suspects she may have known the perpetrators through visits to entertainment venues. He remains uncertain about her financial obligations and has not considered bail.
