Anutin Charnvirakul Addresses Budget Allegations and Kathin Robes Bookings

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has openly addressed the allegations made by Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Decha Isara Khaothong, regarding the allocation of budget funds within the party. Anutin stated that he is not concerned about being repeatedly booked for Kathin robes offerings and dismissed worries about being billed for them.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin responded to Mr. Decha’s accusations that the budget was disproportionately concentrated within the Bhumjaithai Party by clarifying that provincial administrative organizations (PAOs) and municipalities have the ability to propose budgets directly to the Budget Bureau. Anutin emphasized that the distribution of the budget should be managed by the Department of Local Administration under the Ministry of Interior, which is responsible for presenting the proposals to the Ministry of Finance for consideration.

Anutin further refuted claims that the budget was favoring organizations affiliated with the Bhumjaithai Party. He pointed out that while the Ministry of Interior can only propose budgets to sub-district administrative organizations, PAOs and municipalities can independently submit their financial needs directly to the Budget Bureau.

In addressing who might be holding grudges, Anutin smiled and suggested that the public should be the judge in determining who is truly harboring resentment. When questioned about the concentration of budget within the Pheu Thai Party, Anutin suggested examining which ministry has the majority of personnel to provide answers.

In response to inquiries about his fatigue from the Ministry of Interior’s commitments to Kathin robes offerings, Anutin assured that he was not tired, as he is no longer the Minister of Interior. He dismissed concerns about any potential check-up or investigation into his actions by stating confidently that no wrongdoing had taken place during his tenure.
