Anutin Charnvirakul Advocates for Village Health Volunteers’ Compensation Increase in Udon Thani

Udon Thani: Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, alongside his team, visited Udon Thani Province to inspect the landscape improvement efforts at Champi Subdistrict Municipality in Sri That District. During his visit, he engaged with the local community and emphasized the importance of enhancing the compensation for Village Health Volunteers (VHWs).

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin discussed his proposal to increase the compensation for VHWs to 2,000 baht per month. He highlighted the dedication of VHWs during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed his determination to ensure their efforts were recognized. He recounted his struggles in presenting this proposal to the Cabinet, noting the supportive role of the former Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, in facilitating the approval process. Mr. Anutin stressed that the compensation was not merely a salary or reward for duty but a recognition of the volunteers’ good deeds and sacrifices.

The visit took a heartwarming turn when Mr. Anutin crossed the road to greet two elderly women waiting for him. After planting trees with his team, he embraced the women, who expressed their hopes for the country’s prosperity and development under his leadership. Mr. Adisak, who was with Mr. Anutin, introduced the Deputy Prime Minister to the women as a potential future Prime Minister. The interaction underscored Mr. Anutin’s connection with the local community and his commitment to grassroots development.
