Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has made it clear that the ongoing legal dispute involving Alpine Company will not be leveraged for political bargaining. Anutin emphasized that Alpine has every right to seek legal recourse against the Ministry of Interior regarding the contested seizure of a golf course land title deed.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin stated that the lawsuit by Alpine is a legitimate legal action taken by the company to address perceived injustices, and it is within their rights to do so. He reiterated that such legal matters are common when individuals or entities feel their rights have been infringed upon, and each party involved is entitled to present their case.

Speculation had arisen about whether this legal battle would influence the dynamics within the government, particularly concerning the Pheu Thai Party’s interest in the Interior Ministry. Anutin firmly dismissed these notions, asserting that the civil service system is resistant to such manipulations and that he has never sought personal favors from the Interior Ministry.

In response to inquiries about discussions with the Prime Minister, Anutin clarified that he merely informed the Prime Minister of the counter-suit without engaging in detailed discussions. The Prime Minister’s family has stakes in the company, yet Anutin maintained that the legal process will objectively determine the outcome based on evidence and witness testimonies.

Anutin categorically denied any possibility of using the lawsuit in negotiations for government positions, emphasizing that it is not his role to engage in such compromises. He underscored that his focus remains on the legal proceedings and ensuring justice is served without political interference.
