“Anutin” reiterates that Bhumjaithai Party is not involved in the Senate’s rejection of the referendum draft for MPs.

“Anutin” insists Bhumjaithai is not involved after news that political parties have orders from the Senate to reject the referendum draft for MPs, and jokes “Tuk-tuks, move aside, ten-wheelers are coming” before the Prime Minister prepares to enter the cabinet meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, spoke about the case where the Senate voted down the House of Representatives’ resolution, on whether the referendum would delay the amendment of the entire constitution, saying that it was a matter for the Senate and that our side had nothing to do with it.

Some senators said that there was an order from some political parties. Mr. Anutin asked back who said it. The reporter replied that Ms. Nantana Nantvaropa, a member of the Senate, said it was her. Mr. Anutin said, ‘I wouldn’t say that. Oh, with that level of maturity, I wouldn’t say that.’

When asked how he would explain whether the Senate’s stance and the Bhumjaithai Party’s stance
were the same, Mr. Anutin said that he is the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and the Bhumjaithai Party has nothing to do with this matter.

As for the Bhumjaithai Party’s opinion on amending the entire constitution, Mr. Anutin said that it was in accordance with what Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul, spokesman for the Bhumjaithai Party, had previously stated before assuming the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

When asked if the Bhumjaithai Party was ready to support the amendment of the entire constitution, Mr. Anutin did not answer the question because the Prime Minister was walking to a cabinet meeting at the Command Building.

If the constitution is really going to be amended, will the coalition parties have to sit down and talk first? Mr. Anutin said that everything has to be discussed first anyway, working together.

When asked whether the outcome of the discussions would be as the coalition parties had discussed, Mr. Anutin said that he was no longer focused and the prime minist
er was walking towards him, and joked to himself that ‘the tuk-tuks moved out of the way before the ten-wheelers came,’ which was when Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the prime minister, walked from Thai Khu Fah Building to the Command Building to join the cabinet meeting.-316.-Thai News Agency
