Anutin” visited Chiang Rai Province to monitor the recovery after the floods, confident that Mae Sai District will be cleared in October, and ready to support the mud cleaning cost of 10,000 baht per household.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and executives traveled to Chiang Rai Province to monitor the flood situation and the recovery after the water recedes.

The field visit schedule includes Mae Sai District at Mae Sai Bridge, Wat Muang Daeng, then travel to Mueang District at Koh Loi Community, etc. before continuing to Chiang Mai Province. In Chiang Rai, Mr. Anutin visited the area to encourage people who are currently restoring their homes. He also traveled to encourage the volunteer defense corps who are on duty.

Mr. Anutin stated that now we must urgently restore, mobilize all sectors, military, civilian, and public sectors. In Chiang Rai, Mr. Chotinnarin Ketsam, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, has been sent to work as Chiang Rai Governor t
o oversee the situation, along with all the deputy governors, making it a full team. In addition, we must commend the Mae Sai District Chief, who has retired but is still helping with the work. His wife also helps. Thank you for your sacrifice. Soon, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, will appoint the Mae Sai District Chief to manage instead. In the meantime, we must thank the current District Chief very much for not abandoning our fellow citizens.

“According to the report, the area will be cleared by the end of October. The worst hit market is Sai Lom Joy. I sympathize with the business owners. We have to look at ways to help with compensation. Next Tuesday, there will be a consideration of the Cabinet resolution, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s order that there will be compensation at the level of 9,000 baht per household. There is also a proposal from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. The matter has been set up and the Comptroller General’s Department
has accepted it for consideration. There will be 10,000 baht per household for mud cleaning. In addition, we will find other assistance as much as possible,” said Mr. Anutin.

Mr. Anutin added that in the past, Ms. Thirat Rattanasak, Deputy Minister of Interior, has been visiting Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai all the time since taking office and has coordinated to ask for help, which has allowed us to get things to them quickly. We will quickly resolve the situation. We cannot stop the water, but now we know where it is going, which makes us understand more about how to handle the situation. We are not withdrawing our forces now. We are still holding our ground here. We must help each other until it is finished. Now we have to bring in machinery to collect scraps of wood and logs so that they do not block the waterways in the area. We have already removed a fair amount of soil and mud, and we will quickly return the area as soon as possible.
