APG participants placed in hotels based on sports branch: Inaspoc

The Indonesian ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (INASPOC) has provided hotels to contingents on the basis of the sports branch that they participate in.

As a whole, Inaspoc provides 15 hotels for participants of the ASEAN Para Games (APG), Inaspoc Accommodation Department member Surya Wardhana said in a statement on Wednesday.

Some 11 countries are participating in the 2022 APG scheduled to be held from July 30 to August 6. These nations will compete in 14 sports branches.

Para-athletic branch members stay at Aston Hotel, Harris Hotel, and Swiss-Berlinn Saripetojo in Solo, Central Java.

“The number of para-athletic athletes and officials from all contingents reached 396 people,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, para-archery athletes and officials stay at Megaland Hotel, boccia members at Alana Hotel, those for para-badminton at Lorin Solo Hotel, and the ones for para-chess at Lorin Dwangsa Hotel Solo.

Furthermore, cerebral palsy football athletes and officials stay at Novotel Hotel, those for para-table tennis at Sunan Hotel, and the ones for wheelchair basketball at Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel.

Moreover, goalball athletes and officials will stay at Hotel Sahid Jaya, those for blind judo at Gran HAP Hotel, and the ones for sitting volleyball at Hotel Royal Heritage.

“Solo Paragon Hotel is used for athletes from two sports branches, namely para-powerlifting and wheelchair tennis,” Wardhana added.

In addition to Solo, one sports branch is in Semarang since the para-swimming competition is held at the Jatidiri Semarang Swimming Pool.

Para-swimming athletes and officials stay at Harris Hotel, while race equipment is kept at the Arus Hotel.

Athletes and officials from all participant countries have already occupied the hotels in accordance with the chosen sports branch since their arrival in Solo, Tuesday, he confirmed.

This includes the Brunei Darussalam contingent that recently arrived on Wednesday.

Acting Head of Inaspoc Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that the hotels are divided as per the sports branch after taking into account the bubble system implemented in accordance with the health protocols.

Division of hotels based on the sports branch facilitates mitigation against COVID-19, he explained.

“With all of its consequences, the event will proceed with stringent (adherence to) health protocols,” he affirmed.

Participants arriving on July 26 directly underwent swab testing during accreditation without having to go through quarantine, he noted.

“We have also prepared a special location for quarantine if there is someone who is COVID-19 positive. We have also coordinated with the Health Ministry,” he stated.
