Bangkok: The Second Army Region has issued a clarification regarding images of an explosion at an abandoned building on the Cambodian side of the border, stating that Cambodian forces were deploying weapons to conduct a curved-trajectory attack on Thai civilian areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the 2nd Army Area Operations Center addressed concerns over the explosion images circulating on social media, which depict the incident near an abandoned building close to the Thai-Cambodian border. The Thai authorities discovered that Cambodian forces had positioned curved trajectory weapons in civilian zones and structures unrelated to military objectives. This pattern of using weapons to target Thai civilian areas has reportedly resulted in casualties and property damage, prompting allegations of Cambodia using civilians as human shields, a breach of international humanitarian principles.
The Second Army Area Operations Center emphasized that the Royal Thai Army targets only military objectives that pose a thr
eat to Thai national security. They reiterated their commitment to peaceful solutions, respecting the sovereignty of neighboring countries, and avoiding violence against civilians. Nevertheless, they stressed the necessity of implementing measures to safeguard against threats while adhering to international law.
