Bangkok: Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari expressed gratitude to the public for their support in encouraging soldiers to protect Thailand’s sovereignty along the Thai-Cambodian border. The Army assures that it is committed to performing its duties under existing systems and mechanisms.

According to Thai News Agency, the Student and People’s Network for Reform of Thailand (SPRT), led by Mr. Pichit Chaiyamongkol, submitted a letter to General Pana Klaewplodthuk, the Army Commander. The letter, delivered through Maj. Gen. Witaya Suvari, expressed the public’s encouragement for the army to uphold its responsibilities at the border.

Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari reiterated the army’s gratitude for the public’s support, emphasizing that the Royal Thai Army is dedicated to preserving sovereignty. The Army Commander affirmed his commitment to guiding personnel to perform their duties effectively within the established system’s mechanisms.

The public is urged to trust the Royal Thai Army’s actions, which prioritize sovereignty protection while adhering to the commander’s policies. Mr. Pichit Chaiyamongkol of the PAD highlighted the need for the Minister of Defense to officially protest Cambodia regarding the Ta Muen Thom Temple and Chong Bok area issue. He stressed the importance of clearly defining Thai territory to facilitate peaceful and sustainable negotiations in the Joint Border Commission (JBC) between Thailand and Cambodia.

Future negotiations are anticipated to be successful if the Thai military has a clear operational direction, preventing unilateral military actions by Cambodia in disputed areas.
