Athletes from three sports branches depart for Tokyo Paralympics

The first group of Indonesia’s contingent for the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, comprising para table tennis, para swimming, and para cycling athletes and coaches, departed from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten, on Tuesday.

The first group departed aboard All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight number NH836 at 6:15 a.m. local time. They are scheduled to arrive at the Narita International Airport, Tokyo, at 15:50 p.m. local time.

The para table tennis athletes that departed for Tokyo today are David Jacobs, Komet Akbar, and Adyos Astan. They are accompanied by two coaches or officials: Rima Ferdianto and Bayu Widhie Hapsara Purba.

On arrival in Japan, the Indonesian para table tennis athletes will train at the Nakano City General Gymnasium before competing at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium from August 25.

Meanwhile, Indonesia has sent Jendi Pangabean and Syuci Indriani to compete in the para swimming sports branch. They are accompanied by Slamet Djauhari, Dinda Ayu Sekartaji, and Irfan Dwi Nurfianto as their staff members and coaches.

They will stay at the Paralympic Village and train there until they compete in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in August 25.

Lastly, para cycling athlete Muhammad Fadli Immamuddin will be accompanied by his coach Fadilah Umar. They will undergo training at the Izu Velodrome before finally competing in August 26.

The Indonesian contingent’s departure is segregated into four groups. The second group, comprising para badminton and para powerlifting athletes, will depart from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport on August 18 at 21:25 p.m. local time.

The third group of para-athletics comprises seven athletes and three coaches. They will depart alongside Indonesia’s Chef de Mission (CdM) for the Tokyo Paralympics Andi Herman.

The final one is the para shooting group, with two athletes as well as four coaches and staff members. They are scheduled to depart for Tokyo on August 23.

As a whole, the entire Indonesian contingent at the Tokyo Paralympics comprises 60 people, including 23 athletes from seven sports branches.
