Attorney Kerdphol Prepares to Prosecute Dr. B Over Suspicious Donation Account Activities

Bangkok: Attorney Kerdphol Kaewkerd has confirmed that Dr. B’s behavior regarding the donation account for Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu is unusual and suspicious. The temple is preparing to gather evidence for prosecution, as the current evidence is deemed insufficient.

According to Thai News Agency, the case revolves around Dr. B’s actions in opening a donation account for the temple, which has led to a dispute between Dr. B and the abbot over the facts. Attorney Kerdphol, representing Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, emphasized the need to present relevant documents to the Crime Suppression Division investigators. These documents, which Dr. B had initially presented to the abbot for review and signature, detail the implementation of various projects.

The abbot had summoned Dr. B for clarification, and the temple has resolved to prosecute him. However, evidence collection is ongoing. Dr. B’s claim that some funds were diverted to other projects contradicts the information provided by temple officials, who are tasked with tracking cash receipts and expenditures. A discrepancy of 5.4 million baht has been noted.

Attorney Kerdphol expressed personal concerns about the case, highlighting that the evidence differs from Dr. B’s claims. The police have already informed the monk of the crime, and there is a belief that Dr. B is attempting to shift the blame. The monk, who initially trusted Dr. B’s explanations, now questions the situation after reviewing the evidence.

Pol. Col. Anek Taosuphap, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, stated that investigators are reviewing Dr. B’s documents dating back to 2019. The police are also seeking documents from the temple to assess its involvement in the projects. The possibility of summoning the abbot for further information is being considered.

Pol. Col. Anek acknowledged that Dr. B’s withdrawal of cash is indicative of suspicious behavior and could disrupt financial flow. He emphasized that honest handling of donations should not involve cash withdrawals. The investigation is still in its early stages, and the temple has yet to file a formal complaint.

The investigation includes examining Dr. B’s assets, including a house valued in the tens of millions of baht, to ascertain their acquisition details. The Crime Suppression Division is prepared to take immediate action if criminal offenses are uncovered. Dr. B’s recent behavior suggests concern, and witnesses have provided valuable information for the ongoing investigation.
