This is the first time that 400 tons of carbon credits have been bought and sold, with BAAC buying at a semi-CSR price of 3,000 baht per ton, totaling 1.2 million baht, and aiming to increase the amount of carbon credits from communities to the market by more than 150,000 tons of carbon within 7 years.
BAAC is preparin
g to expand the project to over 6,800 tree bank communities nationwide, supporting the planting of 108,000 more trees per year, and setting a target to generate more than 510,000 tons of carbon credits by 2028.
In addition to generating income for tree planters, the project also encourages the increase in green areas that will absorb carbon, alleviate the impact of global warming, and push Thailand to achieve carbon neutrality as planned.
BAAC invites interested government and private agencies to join in driving the mission of environmental conservation, which can meet the goals of the business sector and support income for communities to plant trees to increase green areas, as well as help create a strong and sustainable economy for the country. The event was held on October 12, 2024.
