Bail granted to Pol. Lt. Col. involved in call center gang

Chiang Mai, Court grants bail to Pol. Lt. Col. involved in call center gang, leaving his stepchildren and a Myanmar tomboy still in custody

After this morning, the Chang Phueak Mai Police Station brought Pol. Lt. Col. Bandit, a former administrative officer at a police station in Chiang Mai Province, a suspect involved in a call center gang who was involved with Ms. Wanatporn and Mr. Thirawat (daughter and son-in-law) and Ms. Suwannalak – MISS NANG, a Myanmar national (a stepdaughter of his new wife and a handsome Myanmar woman who was her close friend), who brought SIM blocking devices or telephone signal converters to set up in 3 rental rooms in Chiang Mai city to trick people into transferring money until he was arrested on July 8th and was initially detained at the Chiang Mai Provincial Court.

The suspect’s wife and lawyer recently posted 100,000 baht in cash as collateral for bail, which the Chiang Mai Provincial Court considered granting temporary release because they have a fixed address and there i
s no indication that they will flee. Ms. Suwannalak, 25, and MISS NANG, 25, Myanmar nationals (a stepdaughter from his new wife and a handsome Myanmar woman who is her close friend), are still being held at the Chiang Mai Women’s Correctional Institution, while Ms. Wanatporn and Mr. Thirawat (the daughter and son-in-law of Pol. Lt. Col. Bandit), who were previously granted bail, are preparing to find lawyers to fight the case.

Meanwhile, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and expect to submit the case to the Chiang Mai Provincial Court within a week. As for whether additional charges will be filed under the Prevention and Suppression of Involvement in Transnational Organized Crime Act, it has not yet been confirmed. They will prepare arrest warrants for at least 1-2 more individuals who are in the group that coordinated with the Myanmar tomboy. Meanwhile, the Chiang Mai Provincial Police Commander is preparing to sign an order for Pol. Lt. Col. Bandit to be temporarily suspended from duty
