Bangka Belitung Provincial Government will map out investment potential and opportunities as a strategy for optimizing natural resources management to improve the people’s economy.
“We will immediately gather representatives of all offices of Bappeda (Development Planning Agency) across Bangka Belitung Islands Province to map out this investment potential and opportunities,” Acting Bangka Belitung Islands Governor Ridwan Djamaluddin noted.
Speaking at a social gathering with Bangka Belitung figures and politicians here on Sunday, he highlighted several potential investment fields in the province: mining, agriculture, plantation, and fishery.
The largest contributor to Bangka Belitung Islands’ economic growth in 2021 is still the mining industry, and regional governments continued to fight for improvement in royalty and downstreaming.
He also informed that within the agriculture sector and processing industry, the production of white pepper reached 38.19 percent from the total production of pepper in Indonesia in 2021 with 77,400 tonnes.
“With this meeting, I do hope that investors will be more interested in investing in Bangka Belitung,” he remarked.
According to Djamaluddin, to encourage investors, one of the ideas that can be applied is providing them with incentives such as providing free land, and equity participation.
He said that those attending the gathering might have experience that could be shared, and the regional heads who attended the gathering would be ready to help because they would be happy with developments in their regions.
He expects that this discussion would be productive and would not just be a discourse without implementation.
If there were problems concerning regulations, he pointed out that representatives from the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry who attended the gathering would help seek solutions to them.
