Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party is optimistic that the government will declare its policies to Parliament on September 29-30, focusing on drawing 25 billion baht from the 2015 budget to implement the “Half-Half” scheme.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, who is anticipated to oversee the Budget Bureau, discussed the potential approval of the 25 billion baht fiscal year 2025 economic stimulus budget. This approval is crucial to implementing the “Half-Half” project before the fiscal year ends on September 30th. Mr. Paradorn emphasized that a decision would be made post-Cabinet oath-taking, government policy announcement to Parliament, and the program’s complete implementation.
Mr. Paradorn stated that guidelines must be scrutinized and relevant agencies, like the Budget Bureau, consulted regarding the feasibility of executing this program. However, he pointed out that final approval from the Cabinet is essential before moving forward.
He further mentioned that the Cabinet would be sworn in before His Majesty the King on September 24th. While discussions on the policy statement to Parliament occurred outside the meeting on September 29th-30th, the timeline remains tentative until the Prime Minister communicates with the Speaker of the House of Representatives. This communication aims to arrange a meeting with the opposition, government, and Senate to allocate time and set a definitive date, tentatively believed to be September 29th-30th after informal coordination.
On being asked about the urgency, Mr. Paradorn explained that if the program wasn’t approved in time, they would resort to using the 2016 budget, whereas timely approval would make use of the 2015 budget.
