Bhumjaithai supports prime minister candidate from Pheu Thai

Bhumjaithai ready to support prime minister candidate from Pheu Thai Party, reiterates stance not to support those with policies to amend Section 112

Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, led MPs of the Bhumjaithai Party to announce the party’s stance on supporting a person who will become prime minister. The party’s meeting resolved that the Bhumjaithai Party, as a coalition party, is willing to support a person on the prime ministerial list or prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai Party to become the next prime minister. It will be the right of the Pheu Thai Party to propose a person that the Pheu Thai Party deems suitable to hold the position of prime minister to the House of Representatives meeting, which will meet tomorrow (August 16) at 10:00 a.m. The Bhumjaithai Party also asked the public to be confident in the party’s position that the Bhumjaithai Party does not support political parties or individuals who will hold the position of prime minister who have a policy to amend
Section 112 of the Criminal Code. These are the intentions of the Bhumjaithai Party according to the statement made on May 15, 2023 and are considered the original agreement of the coalition parties during the establishment of the government of Mr. Settha Thavisin. This should be a clearer statement.

The Bhumjaithai Party has met with leaders of the coalition parties, and all parties share the same view. To create clarity, the Bhumjaithai Party has requested that a joint statement be held by the coalition parties, allowing the leaders or the Pheu Thai Party to confirm this position together with all coalition parties at the first opportunity possible. It has been learned that all parties are meeting to find a resolution to support the person who will hold the position of Prime Minister.
