Bangkok: “Bhumtham” welcomes the US ambassador to discuss taxes. He reveals that “Trump” plans to visit Thailand, hoping to better understand the Thai way of life.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, acting as Prime Minister, revealed after meeting with Mr. Robert F. Godec, the US Ambassador to Thailand, that there had been discussions regarding import tariffs to the US. Tomorrow, Mr. Robert will meet with Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to discuss the details of what to do next. He explained that the importance of long-standing relations is not as important as concrete actions. If we feel that Thais are friendly to everyone, and we feel that friendly negotiations based on long-standing relations will yield concrete results, we will discuss the details and see how they benefit each other or impact the relationship.

Mr. Bhumtham also expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump, who spoke over the phone twice, and who said he would be visiting Thailand. He expressed his hope that the two would also meet with the US Secretary of Defense, who both expressed their desire to visit. He believes that if the opportunity arose, they would be able to better understand our cultural roots, our country, and the Thai way of thinking and way of life. Furthermore, he discussed various areas of cooperation that he would like to explore. He added that he would meet with senior leaders later this year, which would further develop their relationship.
