RATCHABURI: Visitors to Ratchaburi are being encouraged to try the distinctive “Big Egg Meatballs” at Tiew Nak Tun, a tom yum shop in Lum Din Subdistrict. Known for its unique approach to tom yum noodles, the restaurant has quickly gained a following, with its signature dish featuring bouncy pork wrapped in jade noodles and a soft-boiled egg yolk, all seasoned with an ancient recipe. The dish is noted for its substantial size, with each meatball weighing nearly half a kilogram.

According to Thai News Agency, the restaurant is owned by Ms. Krawika Wuttikun and has been open for a relatively short time. Despite the wait time required for the preparation of these freshly molded meatballs, customers are reportedly willing to wait due to the dish’s flavorful taste that requires no additional seasoning. The meatballs are freshly prepared, boiled for 15 minutes, and served with tom yum soup, making them a highlight of the menu.

hich includes nearly half a kilogram of pork meatballs. During a promotional period from December 25, 2024, to January 5, 2025, customers purchasing the Jumbo Egg Set will also receive a complimentary 1.25-liter bottle of soft drink. In addition to the meatballs, the menu features other dishes such as rice noodles with chicken curry, beef curry with rice, and stewed pork noodles, with the large egg meatball tom yum noodles priced at 100 baht per bowl.

Tiew Nak Tun caters to meat lovers with options like sun-dried beef, stewed beef noodles, and stir-fried stewed beef with holy basil. Special menus include khanom jeen with beef or chicken curry on Mondays and ancient recipe massaman curry available on Thursdays. The restaurant is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting both locals and tourists to experience its renowned flavors.
