The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) cooperated with state-owned bank PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) to eradicate drug trafficking and money laundering.
“BNN and PT BTN are jointly promoting ‘War on Drugs’ to realize an Indonesia that is free from drugs,” Head of BNN Petrus Reinhard Golose stated after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BTN at the BTN Headquarters here on Wednesday.
According to Golose, the prevalence of drug-related cases during the 2019-2021 period increased, albeit only by a small figure of 0.15 percent.
To this end, his agency established cooperation with various institutions, including PT BTN, to eradicate drug trafficking in the country.
To tackle drug crimes, Golose said, the BNN cooperates with banks to eradicate money laundering.
“We can ask for help or cooperate with the elements of banks for us to trace those related to money laundering,” he emphasized.
On the occasion, the BNN head emphasized that the most important aspect about the cooperation with PT BTN is the commitment of each party to ensure the smooth running of the cooperation.
“I would like to thank Mr. Haru (President Director of PT BTN) and his staff because we were able to sign an MoU between BNN and PT BTN. The most important aspect (of the cooperation) is the joint commitment to preventing and eradicating the illicit trafficking of narcotics and their precursors,” he remarked.
President Director of PT BTN Haru Koesmahargyo noted that the signing of a memorandum of understanding with BNN is a form of BTN’s commitment, as one of the agents of development, to participate and ensure that Indonesia’s younger generation is healthy and free from narcotics.
“BTN is committed and ready to support BNN to ensure the safety of the younger generation, the nation’s future generation, from narcotics and illegal drugs,” he stated.
