Body of 10-year-old girl found after house collapses into Yom River


The body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing from a house that collapsed into the Yom River in Sukhothai Province has been found after a K9 dog sniffed out a suspicious spot.

After the rescue operation in the case of a house collapsing on the bank of the Yom River, Village No. 4, Khlong Krajong Subdistrict, Sawankhalok District, Sukhothai Province, which caused injuries and deaths, at the same time, Nong Chui or Miss Chutima, age 10, who was missing, and the rescue team, together with relevant agencies, conducted a search operation for more than 48 hours, as previously reported, the latest update is that the team was able to excavate and find the body of the 10-year-old girl, amidst the joy of the rescue team, villagers, and relatives who were waiting and following the news at the scene.

At 3:39 p.m. on October 10, 2024, reporters reported that it was the time when rescue workers and related officials were able to dig through the debris and mud until they found the body of the girl, Chui or Chutima, age
10, which the search team had been searching for more than 48 hours. After the body was found and brought up amidst the joy of the rescue team, villagers who came to follow the news, including relatives who were camping and waiting at the scene, they were all happy and in tears.

In the operation since 13.00 this afternoon, the K9 police dog team of the 31st Border Patrol Police, Phitsanulok Province, including the rescue team and relevant officials, held a meeting to rehearse understanding and invited a boy who was the victim to provide information. The boy was able to point out the spot where the 10-year-old girl was believed to have drowned. The working group sent a K9 dog to sniff the area, along with rescue workers who searched and used a large backhoe to help dig. The K9 dog was able to sniff the suspicious spot, and the backhoe used its hands to scoop up and dig until the body of the 10-year-old girl was found.

Ms. Wasana Muangsrichan, 24, a cousin of the 10-year-old girl, immediately burst into tears
when the girl’s body was found and thanked all the staff who worked to help until the girl’s body was found this time.

While Mrs. Sinuan Nopphalet, 70 years old, the grandmother of the 10-year-old girl, immediately after knowing that the rescue team was able to bring the girl’s body up, she expressed her gratitude and was happy to be able to take the body of her 10-year-old granddaughter to perform religious rites. She also said that she would make merit for her. She was very happy, with tears welling up in her eyes.
