NARATHIWAT: A series of coordinated bomb attacks in Narathiwat Province have left dozens of officials injured, triggering a heightened security response. The incidents, which took place in three separate locations, have involved insurgents planting explosive devices targeting military and police personnel.
According to Thai News Agency, the first attack occurred on Highway 4056, near the Rasapprai Gas Plant in Kuwa Village. Insurgents planted bombs near two electric poles as soldiers from the 4808th Infantry Company were passing by. Five soldiers sustained minor injuries in the attack. Those injured were identified as Asst. Prof. Wutthichai Sutsai, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwat Sawiyam, Sergeant Major Amran Awae, Asst. Prof. Wichian Chobnam, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Apinan Kongno.
The second incident took place at a bridge connecting Ban Do Hae and Ban Sue Dae villages in Su-ngai Padi District. An unknown number of assailants planted bombs, injuring ranger soldiers from the 4808th Military Company and causing damage t
o a pickup truck. The injured soldiers were transported to Su-ngai Kolok Hospital with symptoms including tinnitus and chest tightness. The vehicle, a black IZUZU pickup truck, sustained slight damage.
The third attack targeted EOD officers, forensic officers, and the Narathiwat Security Investigation Team while they were investigating a previous bombing in Su-ngai Padi District. The incident resulted in two EOD officers being injured. They were identified as Pol. Lt. Col. Somchok Mankong and Police Senior Sergeant Major Anuphan Rodduang. The officers were taken to Su-ngai Padi Hospital for treatment. The authorities are actively pursuing the insurgents responsible for these attacks.
