Bangkok: The National Security Council (NSCC) has introduced “Boom Panadda” as a volunteer spokesperson, a strategic move designed to leverage her experience and public appeal. Competing against “Lt. Gen. Malee,” she expresses confidence that her communication skills will serve her well in this role. She commits to confronting fake news and pledges to represent the people’s interests by providing factual information.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Defense Minister General Nattapol Nakphanit announced the appointment of Ms. Panadda Wongphudee as the new spokesperson for the NBTC. She will engage with Lieutenant General Malee Socheata, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense. General Nattapol expressed confidence in Ms. Panadda’s abilities, highlighting her advantage as Miss Thailand. Her responsibilities include addressing issues in four provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border, and she will be supported by a team providing information during press briefings.
Ms. Panadda shared that her decision to volunteer as spokesperson was influenced by her extensive experience and firsthand observation of the challenges faced by local communities and military personnel. She aims to serve as a transparent intermediary, effectively communicating with media, the public, and military entities to provide accurate information about developments in Thailand. Following a military meeting, it was agreed that she would be an effective spokesperson to address issues with Cambodia, and she is committed to contributing to Thailand’s interests.
When asked about her ability to handle confrontations with Lt. Gen. Malee, Ms. Panadda expressed confidence in her straightforward approach. She trusts that the Thai media, familiar with her work, will recognize her clarity. She also emphasized that she does not take comments from the Cambodian side too seriously.
Addressing whether her future communications will be government-based, Ms. Panadda confirmed that her reports will include official information, personal fieldwork, and insights from the Center for the Prevention and Suppression of Crime. She assured that her communications would remain free of fake news and focus on genuine updates.
Regarding her initial strategy to address issues with Cambodia, Ms. Panadda plans to prioritize discussions on the significant challenges faced by affected populations. She highlighted the ongoing crisis that has disrupted lives and forced many into evacuation centers, emphasizing her commitment to standing by the people and preventing further hardships.
