Bangkok: In a strategic legal maneuver, the lawyer representing Woraratphon Woratworakul, known as “Boss Paul,” is set to change the status of five individuals from victims to co-accused in an ongoing investigation. This development follows the transfer of the case file to the Department of Special Investigation and aims to clarify the roles of key network members.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Witoon Kaengngan, the legal counsel for Mr. Woraratphon, expressed confidence in the Department of Special Investigation’s ability to handle this complex case. Following a meeting at the Bangkok Special Prison, Mr. Witoon disclosed plans to submit a formal request to reclassify five individuals-Mr. Tinnapat, Ms. Chonthicha, Mr. Kraiphop, Ms. Nuengfa, and Ms. Anothai-from victims to co-accused. The submission is scheduled for October 29. These individuals are alleged to have orchestrated a scheme involving over a hundred team members, persuading others to invest and purchase products worth 250,000 baht.
The legal
team emphasized that this move is not intended as witness intimidation but as an assertion of legal rights. The five individuals will be expected to undergo the justice process, similar to the 18 people currently involved. Additionally, the legal team is reviewing case files to initiate proceedings against over 2,000 individuals who have claimed victim status.
In a related development, Mr. Witoon mentioned plans to apply for bail for Mr. Woraratphon to allow him to contest the charges. Meanwhile, Mr. Jiravat has appointed himself as a personal lawyer following an incident involving Mr. Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, who entered the prison with a police investigator without proper authorization.
