Brawl Erupts at Ramkhamhaeng University’s Sart Duan Sip Festival, Injuring Six

Bangkok: Ramkhamhaeng University clarified that the teenagers who fought at the Sart Duan Sip festival were not students under its jurisdiction. A brawl between teenagers at the traditional festival of the tenth lunar month at Ramkhamhaeng University resulted in six injuries. Police arrested one of the perpetrators and are preparing to detain him on September 22. Meanwhile, Ramkhamhaeng University clarified that he is not a student and is preparing legal action.

According to Thai News Agency, a brawl between two groups of teenagers occurred late on the night of September 19th at the Sart Duan Sip festival at Ramkhamhaeng University. Six people were injured, two of whom were stabbed. Mr. Prawin, 21, and Mr. Athipdee, 17, were stabbed in the stomach and slashed in the back. Both were students at a college. Officials rushed to the hospital to assist them before they returned to their accommodations.

Before the altercation, a famous band was singing. However, a fight broke out below the stage, so the artists immediately announced the end of the show. The group of 15-20 perpetrators, known to be students from the Minburi area, attempted to escape by infiltrating the crowd of people strolling around the event. However, investigative teams operating at various locations were able to apprehend them immediately. They then took one perpetrator into custody for questioning at Huamark Police Station.

The perpetrator is currently facing charges of assault resulting in bodily injury and carrying a weapon in a public place without permission. Investigators are preparing to send him to the Criminal Court for detention this Monday (September 22).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was a fight between two groups of teenagers. The perpetrator confessed that he had never known the injured person before, but had met him and had a fight at the event. Police will now question him to expand the investigation to find additional people involved.

Ramkhamhaeng University clarified the incident at the Sart Duan Sip festival, stating that the Sart Duan Sip festival is an annual event organized by the Ramkhamhaeng University Student Union to preserve the traditions and customs of the Southern region. Over the past several years, there have been no violent incidents. The university emphasized that alcohol and other intoxicating beverages are strictly prohibited for sale at the event, as well as the carrying of weapons and any conflicts. Violators will face strict legal action.

Preliminary reports indicate that the perpetrators were not Ramkhamhaeng University students, but rather outsiders. They have been arrested and are currently under investigation. Ramkhamhaeng University will take strict and decisive legal action.
