Uthai Thani: Police in Uthai Thani Province have arrested and charged a van driver with the intentional murder of his Laotian girlfriend, whose body was found buried in a cassava plantation. The suspect, Mr. Sangwien, 52, was taken to the crime scene to identify the location and reenact the events leading to the murder. He faces charges of intentional murder and concealment of a corpse.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident was confirmed by the commander of Uthai Thani Provincial Police, who stated that the suspect had confessed to the crime. The motive stemmed from a dispute between Mr. Sangwien and the deceased after she attempted to introduce him to her family, which he feared would lead to personal complications. The argument escalated in the van, resulting in Mr. Sangwien strangling her. The police highlighted that the murder was not premeditated, as evidenced by the use of an old rope found in the vehicle, which Mr. Sangwien used in his secondary occupation of selling second-hand motorcycles. A b
lanket was also present in the van, further indicating the unplanned nature of the crime.
The investigation continues as police work to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident, with Mr. Sangwien expressing remorse for his actions and wishing to apologize to the victim.
