Buriram: Buriram United stumbled after drawing 2-2 at home with BG Pathum United in the Thai League. Despite the draw, Buriram United continues to lead the Thai League 1 standings.
According to Thai News Agency, the BYD Sea Lions Six League 1 witnessed a thrilling matchup as Buriram United, known as the Thunder Castle, hosted BG Pathum United at Chang Arena. Buriram United had been on a winning streak, securing victories in their last six matches. BG Pathum United, on the other hand, recently underwent a coaching change, with “Coach Boy” Supachai Komsilp departing and Vladimir Vujovic stepping in as temporary manager.
The match began with BG Pathum United taking an early lead in the 25th minute, courtesy of Seydine Ndiaye. However, Buriram United quickly responded with an equalizer in the 31st minute, thanks to a stunning shot from outside the box by Guilherme Bissoli. BG Pathum United regained the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal from Sanchai Nonthasila.
As the first half drew to a close, Buriram United was awarded a penalty in injury time, and Bissoli successfully converted it, leveling the score at 2-2. The second half saw both teams aggressively attacking, but neither could capitalize on their chances, resulting in the match ending in a 2-2 draw.
This result marked the first time Buriram United had stumbled after a six-match winning streak, bringing their total to 19 points from 7 matches and maintaining their position at the top of the league. Meanwhile, BG Pathum United moved up to 11 points, securing 5th place in the standings.
In another match, True Bangkok United hosted Nakhon Ratchasima Mazda FC at True BG Stadium. True Bangkok United took the lead in the 36th minute with a goal from Musaen Al Ghassani. However, Hirotaka Mita equalized for Nakhon Ratchasima Mazda FC with a penalty kick in first-half stoppage time.
True Bangkok United regained the advantage in the 83rd minute when Nakhon Ratchasima’s defender, Nanad Lalic, scored an own goal. Teerasil Dangda sealed the victory in the 89th minute, resulting in a 3-1 win for True Bangkok United. This victory increased their total to 16 points from 7 matches, while Nakhon Ratchasima Mazda FC remained with 7 points, holding 12th place in the league. In another match, PT Prachuap secured a 1-0 victory over Ratchaburi FC.
