Cabinet Extends Term of Sa Kaeo Governor, Declines Extension for Second Army Commander

Bangkok: The Cabinet has decided to extend the term of the Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, Mr. Parinya Phothisat, as he has one year remaining on his current term. This decision was announced by Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, following a Cabinet meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet’s decision to extend Mr. Parinya’s term contrasts with its decision not to extend the term of Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, the commander of the Second Army Region. Mr. Jirayu clarified that governors who have completed four years in office are typically transferred to another province. However, since Mr. Parinya, the governor of Sa Kaeo, is not yet 60 years old and will retire in 2026, he is eligible to apply for an extension. Lt. Gen. Boonsin, on the other hand, is set to retire on September 30th and his term will not be extended.
