Bangkok: “Maris”, Minister of Foreign Affairs, walks away from the media, does not answer the issue of Cambodia closing the door on negotiations after the Cambodian Foreign Minister insists on going to the International Court of Justice.
According to Thai News Agency, Foreign Minister Maris Sengiampong declined to answer reporters’ questions after Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon sent a letter to Maris, urging him that the best way for peace is to submit the issues of Chong Bok, Ta Muen Thom, Ta Muen Tod, and Ta Kwai to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The reporters went to ask Mr. Maris about this issue twice. In the first round, the reporters asked if Cambodia confirmed that the four disputed areas would not be brought up in the negotiations at the Joint Border Committee (JBC). As for Thailand, would they bring them up? Mr. Maris turned to the reporters, shook his head, and immediately walked away.
Later, the reporter went to wait at the private car and asked again whether the border dispute would be brought into the JBC negotiations or not because the Cambodian government had not yet responded. Mr. Maris did not give any answer and got into the car and closed the door immediately.
