PHNOM PENH — During a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang on November 3, President of Cambodia’s National Assembly (NA) Samdech Khuon Sudary underscored the enduring significance of collaborative relations between Cambodia and Vietnam.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the host lauded Vietnam’s developmental strides and focused on the importance of bilateral cooperation. She reflected on the shared history of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, particularly their collective efforts during their respective pursuits of national independence and current development.
The President of the NA acknowledged the crucial support provided by Vietnam’s Party, state, and military in Cambodia’s past, especially in the liberation from the genocidal regime. She expressed satisfaction with the continuous strengthening of traditional solidarity, neighbourliness, and friendship between the two nations. This progress is marked by regular high-level visits, the advancement of existing cooperation mechanisms, and recent developments in economic, trade, and investment relations.
She called for both countries to build upon the successful cooperation of their legislative bodies, maintain strong relations, foster connectivity, and jointly execute agreed-upon accords to fortify and enhance the effectiveness of their parliamentary ties.
Ambassador Tang conveyed congratulations from NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and other Vietnamese leaders to his Cambodian counterpart. He commended the achievements of the Cambodian people in both domestic and international spheres.
Tang voiced confidence that Cambodia’s seventh-tenure NA and the Royal Government would continue to lead the nation towards greater prosperity. He affirmed Vietnam’s status as a long-standing and close ally of Cambodia, appreciating the support and aid rendered to Vietnam both historically in its liberation and reunification efforts and currently in national development and defense.
During their interaction, President Khuon Sudary and Ambassador Tang also discussed various aspects of the bilateral relations between their countries.
The two officials agreed on the importance of sustaining visits at all levels for exchanging experiences and information. They reiterated the need to capitalize on existing cooperation frameworks, including the trilateral collaboration between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Emphasis was placed on enhancing comprehensive cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, and mutual support across different areas to deliver tangible benefits for both nations.
