According to Thai News Agency, the 1st Cavalry Regiment, Chaiyaphum Task Force, had deployed forces to set up checkpoints to prevent and intercept drug trafficking as part of the government’s “Seal Stop Safe” policy. This initiative aims to control and prevent the entry of drugs into the country by ordering border protection units to intercept such activities.
The checkpoint on the route to Ban Paek Sam was strategically set up to monitor suspicious activities. Upon identifying a suspicious pickup truck, officials conducted a search, leading to the discovery of the methamphetamine pills. The three men managed to escape into the forest, taking advantage of their familiarity with the local terrain.
The investigation revealed that a drug trafficking group was attempting to smuggle drugs from a neighboring country into Thailand, targeting Wiang Haeng District in Chiang Mai Province as a transit point to move the drugs further into the country.
