“Chalermchai” confirms that there is still no invitation to join the government.

“Chalermchai”, leader of the Democrat Party, confirmed that there has been no invitation to join the government yet, saying that whether to stay or go, it depends on the majority of MPs and the executive committee. He is confident that the party will not be divided.

Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about the news that the Democrat Party will join the government, confirming

that the Democrat Party is ready to be both the opposition and the government, but today there has been no discussion. If there is coordination, the matter must be brought to the party executive committee meeting and a resolution must be requested from both the party executive committee and the party MPs immediately. If the meeting decides, it will be done accordingly. He emphasized that it must be a party resolution and everyone must comply with the party resolution because he is a party leader who adheres to the party’s principles.

‘Today, there has been no discussion. If they have coordinated, then it must
enter the process. That is, in the Democrat Party, it must pass the party regulations, which is through the executive committee and then to the MPs. Therefore, if it passes the executive committee and the MPs, I confirm that everyone must adhere to the party’s resolution. Therefore, of course, if they join, the whole party must join. And actually, I have never come out to say how many people because I believe that the Democrat Party has rules and discipline. Otherwise, why would we set party regulations? Because party regulations must pass the registration with the Election Commission. We can’t just set them up ourselves. Everything has laws and regulations to support it,’ said Mr. Chalermchai.

As for the news that senior Democrat Party MPs have confirmed that they will not work with Pheu Thai Party and may not join, Mr. Chalermchai said that you have to ask them. He cannot answer for them, but personally, as someone who has been in the Democrat Party for over 20 years, he still believes that Democrat Party
members are orderly, disciplined, and respect the rules and regulations. If we say that we are democratic, then if we do not respect the majority of the party, it is over. You can see that when the Prime Minister election was voted, all MPs followed the party’s resolution. It was the MP’s resolution, not the party’s executive committee’s resolution.

Mr. Chalermchai said that today the country must move forward because the economy is worse than politics. Therefore, we should think about what to do to make the country move forward. As for the Democrat Party, we insist that whether we are the opposition or the government, we are doing our best. But today, don’t say what we will do. And I emphasized that it’s not like we want to be the government and then throw it at us. Each person still has dignity. And the Democrat Party is a political party. We must have our own position and dignity. Sometimes people talk like we are worthless. This is not right. I emphasized that during the time that I was the party leader,
everything had to be respected for each other because we love our institutions and love the country.

When asked again if he was invited to join the government, he was ready to work or not. Mr. Chalermchai said that we have to wait until that time comes. Right now, he could not answer. And he believes that there should be no discussion with other leaders because the Democrat Party no longer has that group or that group because he has given him the power as the party leader to make decisions. As for me, if there is any coordination, it must be brought to the meeting of MPs and the party executive committee immediately. If the meeting decides something, then it will be done. Accept it or not, it doesn’t matter.

Mr. Chalermchai also emphasized that as the party leader, if there is any decision of the Democrat Party, it will definitely not cause conflict to the point of the party splitting up. He is confident.
