Bangkok: A recently released video clip by Yi Thanakun has reignited interest in a pyramid scheme case that has remained unresolved for six years, involving alleged deceit by an individual known as “Mr. S.” The incident has prompted victims to rally for action, as they accuse Mr. S. of manipulating them into investing in the fraudulent scheme under false pretenses.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thanakun Jit-Issara, President of the Santi Prachadham Club, addressed the media following a complaint filed by the victims with the President of the House of Representatives. The complaint is based on a video clip shown before the interview, featuring a speech purportedly made by Mr. S. to encourage victims to invest. The victims were allegedly misled into believing they would receive their money back, a promise that remains unfulfilled.
Mr. Thanakun questioned whether the clip captured an attempt to leverage benefits from the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO). He noted that the company involved disappeared s
hortly after the incident, leading to a six-year delay in resolving the case. The victims have expressed frustration with the lack of progress, citing concerns that Mr. S., who reportedly held a position in the Ministry of Justice, may have deliberately stalled the investigation.
One victim claimed that an audio clip served as evidence of promises made by an “angel” to resolve the case and recover lost funds since 2019. Despite these assurances, AMLO has yet to provide answers regarding the case’s status. The victim speculated that Mr. S.’s position within the Ministry of Justice might have influenced the delay, as he was known for expressing concerns about the country’s vulnerability to pyramid schemes.
Another victim, who suffered damages amounting to 50 million baht, lamented the severity of the situation and the unmet promises of assistance from the so-called angel. They questioned the reasons behind the prolonged delay and whether any covert communications between the angel and the opposing party contr
ibuted to the stagnation.
The clip released by Mr. Thanakun, lasting over 15 minutes, predominantly features a call to action, urging victims to unite and invest collectively. The event reportedly attracted a significant audience, further highlighting the scope of the alleged deception.
