Nakhon ratchasima: Coach Oat praised his team after defeating Vietnam to win the first championship of the 2025 CV League. He said he will strive to improve the team and prepare for the second round in Vietnam.
According to Thai News Agency, the Women’s Volleyball “BYD CV League 2025” was held at Terminal 21 Korat Shopping Center in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The Thai women’s volleyball team entered their third match, competing for the first field championship against Vietnam after both teams had won their first two games. This match drew a large number of volleyball fans from Korat and nearby provinces.
“Coach Oat” Kiattipong Rachatagriangkrai, head coach, deployed a starting lineup featuring Atcharaporn Kongyot, Thatdao Nuekjang, Pimpichaya Kokram, and Warisara Sritalet, with Pornpan Kerdprach as setter and Kalyarat Khamwong as libero. Vietnam, led by Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, played evenly against Thailand. The Thai team lost the first set but rallied to win 3-2 sets (23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, and 15-11), securing three straight victories and eight points to clinch the championship. Vietnam finished 2nd with 7 points, followed by the Philippines with 3 points in 3rd place. Indonesia finished last after losing all three matches.
Individual awards were also announced, with Pornpan Kerdprach winning Best Setter, Thatdao Nuekjang as Best Quick Hitter, Ajcharaporn Kongyot as Best Outside Hitter, and Pimpichaya Kokram earning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after scoring the most points in the game with 28.
After the game, Coach Oat praised his players for their teamwork. Despite some mistakes, adjustments in blocking and receiving were made. He acknowledged the improvement of the Vietnamese team and expressed the significance of the victory. For the second round in Vietnam, the focus will be on further improvements, aiming for another championship win.
Players “Aomsin” Sasipaporn Chanwisut and “Beam” Pimpichaya Kokram expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and thanked their teammates and fans for their support, promising to give their best in the next round.
Somporn Usibangyang, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, commended Nakhon Ratchasima Province for its excellent organization of the tournament, which served as a test for the upcoming 2025 Women’s FIVB Volleyball World Championship. He praised the athletes and coaches for their success and noted the improvements of ASEAN teams, emphasizing the need for continued progress as Thailand prepares to host the World Championship in August.
The Thai women’s volleyball team is scheduled to depart on August 6th to compete in the second stadium in Vietnam. Their first match will be on August 8th at 4:00 PM against Indonesia, followed by a match against the Philippines on August 9th at 7:00 PM, and a final match against host Vietnam on August 10th at 7:00 PM.
