Compensation for passenger car accidents under the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act


The Consumer Council expressed its condolences to the families of those who died in the school bus fire in front of Zeer Rangsit, which resulted in several deaths, and offered assistance in this case. Those who were injured can contact the number 1502.

The Consumer Council also provided information that in the event of injury or death from a bus accident, the injured party or the injured party’s relatives must receive compensation according to the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act B.E. 2535 as follows:

– Actual medical expenses, maximum coverage 80,000 baht/person

– In the event of disability, injury or handicap, coverage 250,000 – 500,000 baht/person

– In the event of death, the law immediately pays 500,000 baht/person (must be received within 7 days)

– Daily compensation in the event of hospitalization 200 baht/day (total not exceeding 20 days)

However, if the damage is severe, the injuries exceed the specified amount, additional compensation can be claimed from voluntary motor insurance,
such as:

– Compensation for suffering from injuries

– Damaged or lost property

– Other damages, such as loss of opportunity to work
