Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono has informed that members of the Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) will be arranged in the 17-8-45 formation during the 77th Independence Day ceremony this year.
The ceremony will take place in the Merdeka Palace’s yard on August 17, 2022.
“We will (do) the 17-8-45 (formation of) troops. During practice (they will) wear masks, and on (ceremony) day wear masks,” Hartono said at the Presidential Palace Complex, here on Friday.
On Friday, the participants of the 77th Independence Day ceremony trained at the palace, he added. The first rehearsal for the ceremony will be conducted on Saturday (August 13). The next day, all participants from Paskibraka, the Presidential Security Forces, and the national defense force will come together for a practice session.
Then, on Monday (August 15), the palace will conduct another rehearsal.
“Starting tomorrow, there will be a practice to (match the exact time for the) fly pass, because we (will do the) proclamation (down to the exact) hour, minutes, seconds,” Hartono informed.
The fly pass will be an attraction presented by fighter aircraft belonging to the National Air Force before the commemoration of the proclamation of Indonesian Independence at Merdeka Palace.
“For the fly pass, the Air Force (AU) is fully dispatched. However, there will be a helicopter demonstration later on from the Air Force, Navy (AL), Police, and others. (In total,) there may be 6–8 helicopters,” Hartono said.
For the commemoration event, the Presidential Palace will conduct two ceremonies. One will be the Red-and-White flag-raising ceremony, which will start at 9.45 a.m. local time at Merdeka Palace and will be attended by at least one thousand to two thousand people in person.
Around 3 p.m. local time, the palace will conduct the flag-lowering ceremony, which will be attended by around three thousand people in person.
This year marks the first time the Independence Day ceremony will be conducted at the Presidential Palace with the general public in attendance since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hartanto assured that the Presidential Palace will impose strict health protocols during the ceremony.
“You must wear a mask, at least test negative in the antigen (test), have received the booster vaccine and (installed) the PeduliLindungi application. That is the list of first requirements to attend (the ceremony at) the palace,” he added.
