Construction of Lombok Airport-Mandalika road reaches 90% completion

The construction of a bypass road connecting Lombok International Airport and Mandalika Special Economic Zone in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara, has reached 90 percent completion.

“The (construction) progress has reached 90 percent completion,” West Nusa Tenggara’s Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Office Head Ridwan Syah said here on Sunday.

The 17-kilometer road construction is targeted to complete in September 2021 with a total budget of Rp800 billion. By November, the road would commence operation, he said.

“By September the road can be functional and it could support the hosting of the World Superbike in November,” he said.

According to Syah, the Transportation Ministry is in a bidding process for the provision of road signs and lighting.

“The central government offered the project in a bidding worth Rp17 billion,” he added. Previously, the Director General of Highways of PUPR Ministry Hedy Rahadian elaborated the construction of Lombok Airport – Mandalika bypass road comprises three packages.

The first package that spans 4.3 km is conducted by PT Nindya Karya-Bumi Agung with construction progress reaches 81.68 completion.

The second package spans 9.70 km held by building contractors PT Adhi Karya – PT Metro Lestari Utama, with construction progress reached 77.73 percent completion.

While the third package conducted by PT Yasa Patria Perkasa spans 3.38 km and its construction progress has reached 72.37 percent.

The road would connect Lombok Airport and Mandalika as a venue of the international Superbike 2021 and MotoGP 2022. The road would cut short the travel time to Mandalika from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.
